First of all, you may have heard many people talking about the “regional scholarship” in Italy. But what exactly is a regional scholarship? It’s actually a scholarship provided by the Italian government.
How Do You Get the Scholarship?
It’s not that once you get admission, you simply apply and receive the scholarship money. It doesn’t work like that. The regional scholarship or NEET-based scholarship is the same thing as the Italian government scholarship.
Whatever scholarship you get depends on the economic situation of your family. It’s based on how rich or poor your family is. In simple words, the scholarship is awarded according to your financial circumstances.
Financial Assessment
Your family’s financial situation is assessed. This includes your father, mother, or any siblings. Let’s say your father is your sponsor. The income of your sponsor and the assets under their name are evaluated to determine your eligibility for the scholarship.
Scholarship Availability
Each region in Italy has different requirements and scholarships. Typically, the scholarships open in June or July and continue till August or September. You need to read the application details of the university you are admitted to.
How to Apply
It’s very easy to apply. Once the calls are open, you just need to go to the website, fill in all the details, and submit your application. To prepare, you can read the previous year’s call for applications and make sure your documents are ready based on last year’s requirements.
Necessary Documents
The main documents you’ll need are:
- Family Registration Certificate (FRC): This shows your family members and can be obtained online from NADRA.
- Income Certificate: You’ll need the income certificate of your sponsor, which is obtained from the FBR office if they are a registered taxpayer.
- Property Certificate: This document shows how much property your sponsor or family owns. If you don’t own any property, you’ll still need to get a certificate that proves this.
Scholarship Requirements
The eligibility for the scholarship depends on your family’s financial situation. For example, if your income is less than 24,000 Euros per year, or if your property is worth less than 50,000 Euros, you are eligible for the scholarship.
Property Declarations
If your sponsor does not have property or hasn’t shown property in their tax returns, you’ll need to mention this on the income certificate. It’s important to have all three documents—FRC, income certificate, and property certificate—ready and attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Regional Differences and Deadlines
Each region in Italy has different deadlines for document submission, translation, and legalization. If you are still in Pakistan, you can authorize a friend in Italy to get the documents translated and legalized on your behalf.
Scholarship Amount
The scholarship amount is typically around 7,600 Euros. This amount is distributed in installments. The first installment is usually received by Christmas, and you don’t need to have any credits for this. For the second installment, given around February or March, you need to have completed at least nine credits. The final installment is given in July or August once you complete 30 credits.
